The accent for my husband has been a blessing and a curse--people love the accent, but then they think he's faking it when they learn that he has lived here pretty much all his life. I can vouch that he is not faking it, although he does have a propensity to lay it on a little thick at times. And as he gets older, he seems to channel his mother's broad Glaswegian speech patterns a lot more.
