Yes, he was a true original. He inspired one of my favorite philosopher comedians, Bill Hicks. He did die too young.

I will always treasure Kinison’s performance on that Christmas episode of “Married with Children”. It was a sort of “It’s a Wonderful Life” in reverse, where he shows Al Bundy how much better off his family would have been without him. He elected to stay alive out of spite.

okay---i tuned in at random to one a Dr Todd Grandes' vids, which turned out ta be about the Karen Read Murder Trial. I'd never heard o' her, before, but after Dr Grande gave his assessment, numerous other vids on the same case played in sequence. But yeah--out there in greater Bah-stun, she's as notorious as ojay! but all this po' little rich career girl did was get drunk & back over her "boyfriend"(a Bahstun Copper), in a fit of rage that came to a boil. Yep. I looked at the crime scene location, and it was a simple, salt-box revival valued at a million clams. Yup. But anyway, listening to those Boston-ites discuss the situation in a whole 'nother American dialect was interesting, too. Her good attorneys have conjured up a VERY improbable conspiracy theory as an alibi, for her defense. It will fly like a lead balloon. Sorry. Wonder how long she'll serve, now that they don't hang people in Mass.? No doubt, she will marry at least one pen pal, whiler in prison. Yup.

okay----i was sitting & watching a video that dicussed the Amber Hilberling case, and there were interviews with her. so, then i read several news articles about her, and also an entry on findagrave. it was very, very tragic. so VERY tragic. You might do some research on your own; i'd rather not discuss the case any further. hope that helps you some.

A little late to the party, but a friend came over with a CD of "Oppenheimer". He'd been on the library wait list and was originally number 75. I had to dig my CD player out of the closet and remember how to hook it up. I can't think of any other movies I've seen in the last year that were better. It deserved it's awards

If you are up for a disturbing documentary, watch “Tell Them That You Love Me.” Oy. It is new on Netflix.

It is about a tenured college professor who sexually assaults a student. But none of the players are of the identity you would assume from my description. Stretches credibility..

Makes me hate smug academics even more.

okay----i tell you what's disturbing, is ta watch the wing-walker biplane crash at the Dayton, ohio airshow back in 2013. see--wing walker jane(who worked days at a gummint job in D.C.) was sitting on the wing of the biplane going about 110 mph, when it accidentally hit the ground and burst into flames. Jane & her pilot did not survive. but yeah---you can see it on youtube. (see photo)2024-06-18 (12).jpg

This was fascinating, and raises so many questions, on so many levels, about the nature of identity and language. I don't think I agree with anything you are saying about "none of the players are of the identity you would assume" or "makes me hate smug academics even more" but it is so worth watching, and so many layers, I agree with you there!

Well, I just meant people will tend to think of a man as the aggressor in any story about a college prof and student because most of the time, they are. Stereotypes but also statistically likely.

As for academic smugness, she has it in spades. She is convinced her new technology and new methods are superior to anything Derrick’s family has tried with him. She is delusional and as such, dangerous.

That woman is evil, and I don’t use that word lightly. Derrick’s family is wonderful. They love him, they have common sense and smarts and are not naive. His brother is outstanding.

The filmmakers made good effort to present both sides. It’s great Anna got so much camera time to tell her story in her own words. She hung herself yet she probably thinks the film told her story fairly.

Watched Perfect Days on Hulu. About a Tokyo toilet cleaner leading a very simple but contented life.
