    Bye Bye, Winter Gnome!

I took 9 things to Goodwill, returned 2 more things to a store, and gave away a pair of shoes on Buy Nothing. New total: 51.

Much to my regret, the darling dining room chairs I bought for $60 do not work because they are very uncomfortable. They are lovely little chairs in perfect condition, but they won’t work here. So now I’m going to have to purge them, but they’re too nice, much too nice, for an local thrift store and they’re too nice for the local auction house which tends to have mostly junk. I’m thinking of taking them to my old neighborhood and offer them up for free because they would fit in someone’s Victorian house nicely.

next week we will take a load of items to the auction house and I’ll probably remember to detail what those are when we finally get around to it.

That's too bad about the chairs, IL. I don't think I could buy chairs or a sofa without trying them out.

I always thought the gnomes added to the decor but analyzing what everything looked like in photos made me realize they were clutter and took away from the other decor. So many were bought on a whim and were loved while they were here but it was time to go.

Donation pickup this morning already. Gone is a xerox box and two reusable grocery-type bags full of stuff! YAY!

An instruction manual and remote for our electric fireplace. Also, I found that now that a lot of my gnomes have been decluttered over the last few days, there were 3 more that I didn't really want to use anymore so those got decluttered too. I'm pretty sure I have found my happy place with the gnomes that are left.

I wanted to figure out how much money was spent on those gnomes that ended up being decluttered. Twelve of them were about $27 each and three of them were between $25-$30. Ended up being around $400! Granted, I've had them for a few years and I loved them but geez, that's a lot of money.

Three drawer dividers. Probably user error but they would slide around and never stayed straight. And like when I tried decanting, I realized I'm not into the ascetic as I thought I would be. My silverware container or junk drawer container moving around a little when the drawer is opened or closed didn't bother me as much as I thought it did.

My daughter and I did a massive closet clean-out today, and I took 71 items to Goodwill, so I've blown through my goal of getting rid of 100 items this month, which is great. I'll see how many more things I can get rid of before we go out of town next week.

    New total: 122.

Still on the decor decluttering kick. Another "bought on a whim" gnome gone as well as a bunny that I displayed at Easter and Spring. A large gnome that holds a banner saying "Peace" that I put out at Christmas. I have something else that can go where that gnome went and it will clear up some space around where the Christmas tree goes so that corner won't look so cluttered. When I was clearing off the 4th of July table runner from the top of our TV stand, I realized that I really missed seeing the wood top and why was I covering it up with a table runner. So.... the handful of table runners that I used for the top of my TV stand will also get decluttered.
