    inflation

Our bi-annual trip to visit family in Texas ended up being $300 more than last November for our usual purchases. Everything except gas was more expensive - eating out, car rental, hotel. Most everything at the grocery is still stupid expensive and/or keeps going up. I thought Daddy was going to do something about high prices

I agree that everything seems to still be going up. Or at least, not much is coming down. Cheapest eggs I can find are still just under $3. I'm old so will use the phrase "I can remember when..." LOL. I remember when they went on sale for $99 a dozen!!!

One of the few things I miss about WI is that the local grocery store gave all kinds of food to the senior center. It was for everyone… not dependent on income or need. I tried many things that I later purchased there that I never used before. It also cut the food bill drastically. It was also a social thing. Got to be friends with people of the same mindset.

Yes, I've been taking advantage of a free senior lunch offered M-F locally by Senior Services in our county. Often they are so well-rounded I do not need to make a dinner. A friend had invited me; although I don't go every day, many do, seniors who are really watching their pennies. You can make a donation and many do from time to time.

This program has federal help, so it may go by the wayside with all the cuts.

Oh, and....the price of coffee!!!! Good thing I have a hoard of tea in my cupboard. DH still has his coffee in the morning, but it's tea for me. Gotta make that coffee stretch more.
My therapist told me the way to achieve true inner peace is to finish what I start. So far today, I have finished two bags of M&Ms and a chocolate cake. I feel better already!

Coffee is what I've noticed. The rest just seems like a gradual creep that's hard to be objective about.

I no longer buy snack foods but how does one justify $4.00 or more for a bag of tortilla chips. Or $20 for a bag of cat litter?

There have been smaller coffee crops due to weather issues. That is why coffee prices have increased. I've told people that when they were complaining about the cost of coffee. They wouldn't believe me and said it was corporate greed.

We have been warned about coffee and chocolate crops for years. Lots of stress due to location of crops with disease, political instability, etc. Note how candy manufacturers are trying to develop product with less chocolate or maybe just a coating.

We have simplified down to instant and actually do like the taste of it. Use a dark roast, except that the price per jar has gone up. Need to shop around.

On the other hand, tea has gone up just as much!!!
