    How about expatriating to Cambodia?

I'm watching HGTV's House Hunters International. I only like a few HGTV shows--most of them make me angry, but it's fun to see international properties.

They are showing a really nice one-bedroom apartment--$200 a month! Apparently it is a very low cost of living country.

DB and SIL visited this past summer. They said it was a lovely place to visit, but commented at the time that they wouldn't want to live there! Yes, lots of bugs. Bugs were on several menus. They didn't care for the fried tarantulas, but enjoyed talking to the woman who hunted them.

My Mother had an ex boyfriend years back who fled to Cambodia to get out of working faster - it was me of all people who helped him realize that if he wanted to get out of working and not completely collapse his quality of life, fleeing to Latin America or SE Asia would get him out of working much faster. He took my advice after he broke up with my Mother and fled to Cambodia - he was OK with it but said it wasn't developed enough for him, now he's in Malaysia - much more developed and not a much higher price tag for this development, at least in living costs. I don't know much about Malaysia but this man highly recommends it and has told me that it's not like Morocco for example - it's Muslim but not to the same degree - kind of like Albania is "modernized" Muslim - supposedly Malaysia shares the same concept. Just passing this along though I personally don't know enough regarding Malaysia to be comfortable recommending it. Rob
