I don't think he was this bad off when he left our office. He was stressed because his finances were a mess but never gave the hint of the homicidal thinking and certainly not the sexual deviancy. He would comment how attractive certain women were but nothing vulgar. I doubt he will get rehired but who knows. I am just upset that we had to find out about this and were never directly told. I can't imagine what would have happened if he started working here and snapped. I get into work at 0430 hrs and fear he will be waiting for me. Not necessarily to hurt me. He called our office from jail last Friday. Our boss ended up blocking the call so he never spoke to anyone but that really freaked us all out. I have no idea what he would have said.
You want to hear something just bats? In a manager in a dept of two? Me and one other person. There was a third person before I started in 2021, but they quit before I started and was never approved. We got called into a meeting yesterday and told that we have a third person in the dept. The owner hired this person and didn’t even give me any input or allow me to interview him. New dude starts today and my other coworker is off the rest of the week. Really bad timing. Thankfully it’s been a bit slower. He’s been in the industry for about 15 years but while he can do the customs stuff, I don’t know exactly what he can do.
Dude gives off massive Forrest Gump vibes, including short sleeved shirt buttoned up to the neck. Talks intelligently, though.
I fractured a tooth a week ago, eating a piece of toast, of all things. There was something tiny and hard in there, perhaps a wheatberry that wasn't fully ground. Anyway, temp filling, root canal, crown and the whole deal cost $3500. out of pocket. Ouch, both literally and figuratively, with an uncertain prognosis of the long-term viability of the tooth. I've been trying to focus on the positives of living in the era of modern dentistry, and having the ability to pay for the treatment.
Ouch, rr! That really stinks. I hope it is a good prognosis with long-term viability of the tooth!

OMG, rosa, that stinks. I can't believe how much dental work is... I remember years ago I broke a tooth eating a mushroom of all things (it was a weak tooth to begin with). I got a root canal, an extraction, and a bridge. I don't think it cost me $3500... I'm sure it didn't!

I hear you on dental costs. I have set aside money but keep not wanting to spend it. Ugh.
We had to spend $5500 on one of the dogs last week, who got incredibly sick incredibly fast and we rushed her to the emergency vet in the city because I didn't see any choice in sight. Eleven days later, she appears to her old lively self, pre sickness. She had an iv drip and lot of antibiotics, and xrays and two cat scans. She had a high fever of unknown origin and tested negative for the tick borne illnesses. They wanted to do exploratory surgery to find out the cause and we said no. We just wanted to get her home and it turned out to be the right call; she's back to normal. She was in the hospital for 2.5 days.
It may be genetic; they said you know that story about when you hear hoofbeats think horses, not zebras? They said she was a zebra and may have rare weird things.
They wanted 6-8 thousand on top of the 5500 to do the surgery. I decided that if I were going to die, I'd rather die at home with my loved ones than in a cage with strangers. So we stabilized her, took her home, are finishing the antibiotics, and she seems absolutely fine, even barking vigorously at the UPS guy yesterday. I had hoped her brush with death would make her a calmer, better dog, but apparently not.
It is very good to have her back.
Medical or dental anything now is ridiculously expensive. I don't even take my old cats to the vet anymore due to the cost. I have a $3500 dental estimate on my desk for cleaning, filling and crown. DH just got a $180 bill for his Medicare wellness visit which is supposed to be covered. After looking into it, they billed the additional cost because he asked the doctor about a new mole on his face while there and was told to see a dermatologist.
Wow, Tybee, I'm so glad your dog is now doing OK.
We just did a wellness visit with vaccines for one of our cats at a cost of $230., and the other cat is going for his checkup next week. That's a not-insignificant expense for nothing even wrong with either one of them.
Pinkytoe: at least my dental insurance covered the emergency visit and cleaning. My insurance only paid about $350 towards the root canal and my OOP was $1800. The crown was $1730 after a 10% cash discount, so I guess at least it was more frugal than if I had put it on a credit card. Does your DH have to pay that $180 OOP, or do you have a Medex plan that will possibly cover it?
