A recent interview on 60 Minutes with Pete Hegseth has deception. His answer to a question was not edited. The question posed to him was entirely different than what we are shown during the 60 Minutes broadcast.
Original question paraphrased: “Key conservatives like Tucker Carlson, megyn Kelly, and candace Owens are not happy with this Iran war and they think this war is not putting America first. Comment?”
Hegseth’s answer paraphrased: “President Trump puts America first!, always!”
Question we saw on air, paraphrased: “ It appears Israel pushed America into this war. Comment?”
Hegseth’s answer paraphrased: “ President Trump puts America first, always!”
So what is the point of this deception? Bari wants us to see that Hegseth is disavowing Israel’s influence in getting the US into this war. Hegseth wants to emphasize President Trump makes his own decisions, those that are the best for the United States.
Due to Donald Trump’s beef with CBS News and their past deceptive editing practices,
60 Minutes now puts the entire unedited footage of the interview that is accessible on their website. That’s how this discrepancy showed up.
I would like to know Bari’s response to this accusation of deception. Until I hear something sensible from her, I am no longer a fan. While I don’t expect news organizations to be “fair and balanced” because they’re all going to have a definite point of view, how they report their favorite hobby horse issues could be done —less dishonestly.
