Great space podcast - 13 Minutes from the BBC. First three seasons were on Apollo and the shuttle program. They’re doing an episode a day until the astronauts are back on earth. It’s excellent. Highly recommended.

Amazing factoid: 15 booster engines are being reused from the shuttle program. One was never flown at all. One used today was on a shuttle flight in 1984 or 1985! That amazed me. They were reworked.

okay---i sat-n-watched the launch. That thing really gets moving; them astranotts must feel squished flat from g-forces, on take off. Plus---i too was very impressed that the ship used some previously-used rocket motors. So anyway---it may not be evident, the why's of manned space exploration, but betcha it will pay off in the long run. That's my hunch. If nothing else, we may need the moon for extra storage space and marginalizing political dissidents. "They" can have all the BLM Marches and No Kings Rallies they want up there, and not bother the rest of us. Ha.

I am not so sure about that. A much better use is to put more gaudy gold on the walls of the Oval Office.

I could see it from my house 40 miles away. It is mind boggling how they can engineer the whole thing. I don’t understand the point of it but perhaps since every American has good healthcare and insurance, a roof over their heads and can afford nutritious food it is fine. Plus there are no homeless vets thank goodness.
