IL: I have the same probs. Too funny!
Santa brought me a whalloping case of upper respiratory crud and the ensuing laryngitis...I tried my best to work yesterday in customer service where my voice got weaker and squeakier through out the day. Now I have NO voice at all and I called in sick at work this morning, which is a major milestone for me. Why do I still feel slightly guilty when I call in sick?????
Our employers can make us feel guilty. They once gave me a hard time about not having a doctor's statement when I was off 3 days for the flu. The next time, I came in on the second day and coughed, hacked and felt awful with a high fever. They were so afraid of me that the boss sent me home. This was preflu shot when I got the flu or other respiratory illness once or twice a year. There was never a reason to go to the doctor as I could fight it off and they had no drugs for a virus. I already knew how to treat the symptoms. I never abused my sick leave and had over 500 hours of sick leave when I retired.
SO NEVER wants to have people over. He is an introvert but his desire for no friends drives me nuts. I go out to meet with other people without him. I don't consider myself an extrovert but do require some contact with people and would like a few friends. Occasionally, he will say ok to having people over but ALWAYS finds something wrong with them. I don't think I am asking for too much. Just to go out eat once in a while with another couple and come back, and perhaps, play cards or a game. He is always personable to people but shows no desire to continue a friendship with anyone. He seems annoyed with me for trying to find compatible people. We are now retired and have time to get together with others. When we both were in the rat race it did not bother me as much. There was so much to do then and little time....
...and that is perfectly okay. You do not need to share all friends and hobbies - having something that you do without him isn't a bad thing.
I see how not being able to invite people over annoys you. But I think it would be feasible to meet the friends elsewhere, and your SO has some time for himself.
Day six of the cursed crud. Funny, even throughout all this, I've had nary a fever (one of the ways you don't accrue absence points at work is getting a doctor's note stating you have a fever, diarrhea, or vomiting). I happen to be going to the doctor on Monday anyway for my yearly physical but I doubt I can get a note for the CRUDDY upper-respiratory illness. In theory I *know* there has to be an attendance policy in a corporation as large as the one I work for, but it seems very punitive to me in some ways when you are trying to do the right thing by not spreading your germs. I really can't call off again today right before I take five days off next week to go to a wedding in St. Louis, in which I am the driver for my 83 year old mom. That's a 500 mile drive each way over a long weekend.
I can't wait for things to get back to "normal", the holidays over, getting back to the gym, etc, etc....
Part of my job is working in the back room marking items that are going clearance so that they can go out onto the floor. Stuff that needs to be marked has a blue clip. We change the prices and switch to an orange clip so if we don't have time to push them out, someone else will.
On Friday there was a tub in the backroom with about 10 lg. boxes of juice pouches, a bunch of toys and assorted other things. I scanned them all and more than half of the items were NOT clearance. Including the juice. I marked the clearance but didn't have time to push. I left an orange clip on and told one of the managers that it was ready to be pushed. That there was a combination of clearance and non-clearance. The juice is not clearance, etc.
I get to work on Monday and there is a blue clip back on the tub and even more stuff in it! So once again I mark the clearance items. I pushed those out onto the floor. But most of the items, including the juice and all the other things from Friday were NOT clearance. So I talked to another manager who said to put a GREEN clip on the tub. Green means this is supposed to be pushed out and put on the shelves.
I got into work today and the BLUE clip was back on the tub (the juice is still there) and there was even MORE stuff in it!!! Marked and pushed the actual clearance and talked to the manager from yesterday. He said he'd look into it and put the GREEN clip back on! This is so crazy!
Anybody want to bet that theblue clip is back on it tomorrow? LOL
I checked the backroom first thing this morning. The tub was GONE! Woo Hoo!! lol
