A lot of nurses wear the expansion bands because you can get the band wet and soapy and slide it up your arm to wash your hands.

Women's watches are really cheap right now--apparently the resale values are very low, as in non-existent, so it might be worth a try. I like the Swiss ones that are less popular names. I am a huge fan of Tissot, and this new Pesag is cool, and Bucherer is a cool less known brand.

I have a self-winding Bucherer that works but I never wear. I wore it for years but it costs more to have it cleaned each year than to wear a watch with a battery.

    Nice surprise for you Tybee!

    Nice!

Ever since the link was put in another thread a year or so ago, I've been following the Decorah eagles. They are nesting and have at least one egg - at last check. Also, there is a Great Horned Owl that the chick has started pipping - hatch is imminent!

IL, this is a nice little wind up Helbros on ebay:
    https://www.ebay.com/itm/30435920719...0AAOSws4phgUYU

Unlikely to be much bidding on it.

My rave is to a "lazy Saturday"! I am having one today and it feels great! Hanging out online (here and other sites), doing some laundry, and actually feel like I'm relaxing in a way I haven't in a long while. Three cheers for Lazy Saturdays!

Thanks. i looked at it, but I was thinking more of platinum and diamond vintage watches. Those seem to go for $500-$600. But I know nothing about watches so I’ll not be buying one and I know the bracelet thing even an expandable metal one wouldn’t work although I do, as I’m thinking about it now, wonder about some of those string type bands.

The string type would allow my skin to breathe and also might be tight enough to stay positioned.

But when you pay that much for something and then what if it stops working? I wouldn’t know what to do in that case.

Speaking of vintage watches. i believe we have quite an expert here among us, a serious collector.

IL, where to you get your cloth watch bands? Or did they come with the watch? I ask because I have a timex that I can't find a comfortable band for. The problem I have is that the attachment of the band to the watch is 12mm (small)

Well, that was a chore. eBay has cloth bands but the trick for me was finding a 100% cotton one. I have two or three of them now and will never relinquish them.

EBay has many of them but they are partially polyester if not all polyester. I try to avoid those but I do think I tried one and it wasn’t too bad, especially in the winter.
