As I understand it a previous Venezuelan dictator awarded contracts to US, British and Dutch oil companies in the years leading up to WWI. Outside of enriching the dictator, I think that action also provided great economic growth for the country overall. Is there more to it than that?

Did Congress authorize us to get involved with and support anti Gaddafi militants in Libya with the express purpose of effecting regime change through Muammar's overthrow? I think Obama and Clinton may have established a precedent in this sort of thing.

I guess the bottom line I got from snopes is that Venezuela did not steal us oil and Trump lied about it, among other details. Maybe that's what you were getting at.

Supposedly, according to trump, billions of US$ will be infused into the oil infrastructure. Surely, there will be no gains for the US ..SNARK!
