Yes, it was the fitted velvet jackets and loose pants that drew me i .
Jane, Heidi and Tim’s second season of Making the Cut dropped within the past couple of days.
I am currently addicted to a new guy who’s a younger version of Tim Gunn. His name is Daniel Hopwood and he’s an interior designer on the show the Great British Interior Design Show. He is swoon worthy, and is, I suppose, a gay man.
That show is wonderful because every one of the properties they fix up is architecturally interesting, and most of them are old or very very old. And yes they do the usual three day cheap ass fixes, but these designers put out some pretty interesting work I have to say. They do a lot of a lot with paint color and a little carpentry, with pine and MDF, and toss pillows.
I always prefer dressing up rooms to dressing up women, so I much prefer interior design shows but so many of them are so horrifically ugly they hurt my eyes.
Most of the episodes in the show respect the integrity of the hundred year old properties they work on, but I watched one show yesterday where they painted a 200 year old pine floor with gorgeous patina. Oy. I blame the homeowner who should’ve said STAAAAHP!!!! no do not do that.

Someone in Indy must have watched Trading Spaces years ago. When they posted pictures to sell their home, they had little balls glued in a grid all over the bathroom walls. How would you ever clean it?
That sounds like such a Hildy thing to do. I remember the straw glued to someone's dining room walls. YUCK.When they posted pictures to sell their home, they had little balls glued in a grid all over the bathroom walls
Had new carpet installed 5 years ago and it is rolling in the middle. Had the president/owner of the company come out and inspect. He said he would get back to me. I have called and he ignores my calls. SO, not knowing what to do, called Menards and asked if they had people they know who restretch carpets. The flooring manager sent me a list of 3 people within a half hour. I called and the installer called me back and came out the same day with an estimate. One week later (today) it is DONE!!! The installer said it was not even tacked down and that is why it was rolling. The carpet now looks nice and lays flat. I am thrilled to have it OFF my list!!!
YaY, for skilled trades! They truly are a pleasure to deal with.
As Cicero said, “Gratitude is not only the greatest of virtues, but the parent of all the others.”
Yesterday before anyone else came in, my boss gave me my yearly evaluation. I had been told by others who had him as a boss to expect a less than stellar evaluation. Plus the fact that I figured I wasn't hiding my absolute disdain for him very well. Went into his office and he handed it to me. All Outstandings!! I was shocked. He had nothing but good things to say about me and how I helped me so much when he first came. How I work well with co-workers (2 of which I think are completely worthless and point it out to him all the time). Unfortunately I have been maxed out pay wise for years so no pay increase but at least I know that I hide my dislike for him well.![]()
Congratulations Klunick. Maybe with the current wage inflation in the country they will find they need to lift the cap before too long. Are you a member of a union?
