there’s a tale being told over on the Mr. Money Mustache forums about an estate of $1 million and how the owner wants it doled out to six people over their lifetime. The person on MMM telling the tale is supposed to be the executor, but he doesn’t want anything to do with that role— too many headaches with almost guaranteed family strife.


As one wise MMM person says, you gotta add a couple of zeros to that 1 million figure in order to make it worth the headaches of 80+ years of overseeing it in trust.

People have unrealistic expectations about how long money lasts and unrealistic expectations about controlling their money from the grave.
